Information to Schools

From 2012-2014 I facilitated in a MOE funded contract: Poipoia te Reo, through Te Toi Tupu, The Institute of Professional Learning, The University of Waikato, to support the implementation and teaching and learning of te reo Māori me onā Tikanga in English Medium schools. Prior to this I was employed as an adviser/facilitator by School Support Services, The University of Waikato, facilitating in all aspects of Learning Languages, at all levels.

In 2014-15, through the Jeanne Gilbert Consultancy (Modern Standard Chinese) and through Sasakawa / Massey University (Japanese), I have supported schools to apply for ALLiS funding (Asian Language Learning in Schools). In 2017 I will continue to facilitate PLD programmes in some of these schools.

I will be continuing part time employment with Te Hononga, School of Curriculum and Pedagogy, at the Faculty of Education, The University of Waikato in 2017+, in a pre-service secondary Post Grad and Masters capacity for Learning Languages.

I am available to work with primary, intermediate and secondary schools that are not supported by any Ministry of Education funding for Learning Languages, through my consultancy: Jeanne Gilbert Consultancy, for all languages.

A support ‘package’ can include a variety of the following or other aspects you may suggest and will be co-constructed to meet needs:
  • a scoping session to ascertain prior learning and needs
  • PLD sessions: full day or half day, twilight or breakfast
  • lesson modelling
  • classroom visits, observations followed by learning conversations
  • assessment for and of learning
  • using a teaching as inquiry approach to measure shifts in teacher confidence and student learning outcomes
  • eLearning

Costs, at a very competitive rate, will be negotiated depending on outcomes decided. See below for standard 2017 costs.

I am looking forward to creating an opportunity with you which will allow your school the freedom to direct learning and teaching outcomes in these areas.

Please contact me: jeanne.gilbert.consultancy@gmail.com if you would like to negotiate support for your teachers and students in 2016+.

Ngā mihinui, nā Jeanne.
