Learning Languages Waikato Regional COURSES FOR 2012
These courses will be offered through the Jeanne Gilbert Consultancy (private) or Learning4 (university of Waikao)


Please open and register with the first document if you wish.You will also have received it in your schools.These courses are designed for teachers yrs 1- 8 new to language teaching and secondary teachers who wish to focus on second language pedagaogies and methodologies which align to NZC.
In 2012 we are offering 3 sequential workshops, with the first being a generic workshop in Hamilton and days 2 and 3 being target language specific. Venues and dates for days 2 and 3 will be co-constructed with teachers/schools at or immediately after day 1.
A school visit could also be negotiated to facilitate learning conversations around the strategic planning and practice of the school's additional language(s), as well as an opportunity for participating teachers to have a classroom visit / modelling session / learning conversation. The completion of this 18 hour ProfeLL course will give participants a credit of one assignment (worth 20% of the paper total) for the online paper TEAL 221(NET) Teaching and Learning Additional Languages in a Primary Setting at the University of Waikato.

There will be a discount for teachers registering for all three sessions.

Secondary Professional Learning - yet to be updated for 2012
We will reactivate existing clusters in 2011 to continue work started on NZC, NCEA realignment and e-portfolios. We are seeking cluster leaders who will undertake professional learning during a special best practice moderation workshop and then facilitate this knowedge in the regional clusters. Advisers also available are Jeanne Gilbert and Toni Twiss. Term one:
Cluster meeting for cluster leaders Mar 8th 2.00 - 5.00 @ Tauranga SSS, 142 Durham St, seminar room A.G.11 - access through shop.

Terms one, two and four:
Regional cluster meetings - dates and content to be negotiated

Term three:
Proposed date for LangSem 2011 is 23 September @ Hamilton Airport Motor Inn.
